Why You Love the Doodles (And Honestly, Same)

My Dotts Doodles are a bestseller. And if I'm being completely honest with you, I'm still not entirely sure why? You lot have surprised me.

When I read through your reviews, a few things come up again and again. You tell me the doodles capture a personality, a pose, a look. That one specific thing your pet does that you've never quite been able to explain to anyone who hasn't met them; somehow, there it is, in that little doodle that I just did for you.

And that's made me think a lot about what these doodles actually are, because they're not portraits in the traditional sense. They're not about getting every piece of fur in exactly the right place, or achieving some kind of photographic accuracy. That's not what I'm going for and based on what you tell me, it's not what you're looking for either.

What you seem to love is the feeling of it, so that's what I lean into. I'm taking  your lead on this one.  I let that shape how I draw. It's a bit of a conversation, really between your pet and my pen.

I don't think I'll ever fully crack why the doodles resonate the way they do. But I'm glad they do. And I'll keep listening.
